4 pm:  Take a 10 mg tablet of Reglan® (metoclopramide).  This will help your stomach empty faster and make it easier to drink the GoLYTELY®.

4:15 pm: Begin drinking the GoLYTELY® liquid in 8 oz doses every 10 to 15 minutes until it is all taken. It is best to drink each 8 oz dose rapidly, rather than sipping it in small amounts. If you feel sick to your stomach, stop drinking.  Wait until the nausea passes.  Then, start drinking again, but at a slower rate (8 oz every 15-20 minutes). It should take 4 to 6 hours to complete the entire gallon of fluid.

Bowel Movement should begin approximately 1 hour after the first glass of GoLYTELY®. They will continue periodically for approximately 1 to 2 hours after you finish the last glass of prep. By this time the bowel movement should be liquid and clear.

Feelings of bloating and/or nausea are common after the first few glasses of GoLYELY® because of the large volume of fluid ingested. This is temporary, and will disappear once the bowel movements begin.

4 hrs before procedure: Drink 10 oz bottle of  magnesium citrate.

Clear liquids:  Drink before, and during the prep to keep yourself hydrated, but do not drink or eat anything after midnight except the remainder of your prep the morning before your procedure.
